Lots of love and kisses is a MUST!!
Bulldogs are a very popular photogenic breed and get a lot of attention. 90% of the time a bulldog requires a C-section due to the large size of their heads. So average cost of breeding can run between $1500 and $3000.
$500 - $750 for C-section during vet hours
$600 - $1000 for emergency C-section after hours
$900 for the semen/stud service plus extra if shipping applies.
Additionally there are pre-breeding tests to assure the bitch is ready to breed:
- exam visits
- x-rays
- ultra sounds
- etc.
Then, once the litter is born, most require help feeding. I spend my time 24-7 with puppies and mothers, and they are never left alone. | I pay a puppy sitter to insure mothers and puppies are being monitored at all times, bulldogs don't
make the best mothers and normally require human assistance. They have been known to lay on a puppy on accident and not even realize it. This is a special breed which requires human assistance until puppies are 8 weeks old. Remember that bulldogs and heat do not mix. They cannot swim.
In preparation for bringing home a bulldog, make sure you have:
- toys
- crate
- collar
- food bowls
When purchasing food bowls, I find that stainless steel work the best. They reduce rash or redness on the face, they can be cleaned easily, and provide a better feeding and watering system than plastic.
Bulldogs get along well with other pets and children as a general rule. They enjoy a soft couch an a belly rub. |
